Timor-Leste's road to independence (achieved in 2002) was long & traumatic. The people suffered some of the worst atrocities of modern times in their struggle for self-determination. 

We are privileged to have access to this stunning direct-trade coffee from Timor-Leste.  Wayne the owner of the Wholemeal Cafe in Takaka, has established trade relationships with the villagers of Moubissi & Maulau, in order to help the people of Timor-Leste rebuild their economic independence.

This rich and full-bodied Timor-Leste single origin is a standout for those who love deep sweetness and complex flavour. With tasting notes of molasses, ripe plum, and dark chocolate, it offers a syrupy mouthfeel and a satisfying finish. Grown by smallholder farmers and roasted with care in Mapua, it's a coffee that’s both ethical and indulgent.

Freshness & Transparency: Every bag of Rabbit Island Coffee purchased on our website features a clearly marked roast date on the front, so you know exactly when your coffee was roasted. We ship our coffee fresh, but for the best flavour and optimal extraction, we recommend brewing it 5-21 days two after the roast date.
